What Is a Guardian Home?
A Guardian Home is a carefully selected family who provides a loving, permanent home for one of our female Golden Retrievers while we retain breeding rights for a limited and clearly defined period of time.
Rather than living in a kennel environment, our Golden Retrievers live as cherished family companions, receiving individualized attention, daily interaction, and the stable home life this breed thrives on.
How Our Golden Retriever Guardian Program Work
- The Golden Retriever lives full-time with the Guardian Family as their beloved pet.
- The breeder retains ownership only until breeding obligations are fulfilled.
- Once the dog reaches appropriate maturity and completes health testing (hips, elbows, heart, eyes, and genetics as recommended for the breed), she may be bred a limited number of times.
- The breeder covers all breeding-related and reproductive veterinary expenses, including progesterone testing, pregnancy confirmation, and whelping-related care.
- The Guardian Family covers routine care, including food, annual veterinary visits, vaccinations, and preventatives.
- During breeding, pregnancy monitoring, or whelping, the dog may stay temporarily with the breeder.
- After completion of breeding obligations, the dog is spayed and full ownership is transferred to the Guardian Family at no cost.
